Losa and Agnes Lene from Supply Chain Solutions have inspired us with what they've gained on our Future Ready Money Confidence course!
Sisters Losa and Agnes, work at Supply Chain Solutions and stepped up to join the Future Ready Money Confidence programme. They both arrived ready to make a change, as Losa explained.
"Each of us had our own financial goal. Mine was eliminating my debt".
The programme gave participants the tools to achieve their money aims.
Losa said, "One of the steps I took was to list out all my debts. Then, I had to choose to start with either my smallest or my biggest, and then start work to eliminate it. We broke it down into smaller steps so that we could reach our goal."
This method of taking big goals and making them achievable through smaller, manageable actions is a cornerstone of the learning experience.
The impact of seeing progress is incredibly motivating. "It felt good and satisfying. It was motivating to see that I was able to have more money for now to contribute towards the next step", said Losa. This feeling of empowerment and control is the aim of Education Unlimited’s programme.
Agnes set her sights on creating a financial safety net. She said, "My goal was having an emergency fund, and I have one now! Doing that just takes a bit of stress off, and just means I know that I can handle life".
The security of that buffer can make such a difference to everyday peace of mind, allowing people to navigate life's ups and downs with greater ease.
When the sisters talked about their experience on the course, Losa highlighted the practical, often overlooked aspects of financial planning that the programme offered. "The course is so useful for people. The end goal sometimes seems so big; you're here, and then you need to magically get over there" But there are lots of skills that can help you get there. You may not even realise you actually need to learn them. There are so many steps in between planning that you don't think about until you actually sit down".
She noted, "Sometimes money things, like paying off debt, seem really straightforward, but it doesn't mean they're going to be easy”.
Education Unlimited’s training is all about bridging that gap with grounded, actionable strategies.
Kaiako, Victoria Hutchinson, is passionate about the wider impact of workplace education. "I hope that improving the financial literacy of our ākonga will better equip them for future success. It has a ripple effect, uplifting whānau, communities and future generations". Her dedication shines through when she says, "I love supporting people to understand their finances better and to learn about the consequences of the choices we make with money."
Victoria also brings a vital cultural perspective to her work. "As a Māori and Polynesian person, I'm inspired by the opportunity to be part of what could be a change and improvement in the financial cycle that my people find themselves in generation after generation. Knowledge is power".
Losa and Agnes remind us of the long-lasting impact that training can have on people's everyday lives. We know that financial stress can weigh heavily, affecting not just home life but also productivity and wellbeing in the workplace. That's why Education Unlimited’s Money Confidence course is solutions-focused. It equips people with practical, real-world skills to build a more secure and confident financial future.
We're so proud to collaborate with Supply Chain Solutions to develop their people. We know that it is not only lives that are lifted but also the workplace culture. When learning is accessible, it can be transformative.
